I would just like to give a big overdue thank you to all the fix it group for all the hard work they have done over the last few years. Last week Malcolm and I went over 3 of the areas that the group have worked on : the steep hill at the top of Coumes Wood which has been transformed into easy steps, the footpaths thru Tinker Brook House which were very muddy and the winding path to the east of Spout House, which is now much easier to traverse. I will work out a walk for these areas later in the year.
Thanks Lynn x

GeneralPosted by lynn Fri, June 24, 2016 17:40:36
Hi All,

Just a reminder that Margaret's funeral will be next Thursday 30th, at City Road Crematorium 9.30am followed by a Wake at Weston Park Cancer Support Unit, 23 Nortumberland St. It is a large house near the top of the road just before you reach the hospital after the Children's hospital. This will be an informal chat and coffee with people who knew Margaret, including tbe support staff who got to know her well. I will be going to both. Hope some of you will join me,
Thanks Lynn x

Bulgaria walking holiday

Walks commentsPosted by lynn Thu, August 20, 2015 16:23:39

Malcolm and I are thinking of doing a walking holiday in the Pirin mountains, Bulgaria. Some friends
of ours, keen walkers, did it last year and highly recommend it.

The lady who runs these trips is very accommodating, and itineraries can be arranged to suite us
- combinations of moderate, intermediate or even hard(?).

We would prefer not to camp, but would be prepared to spend the odd night in a hut with bunks.

We are thinking of a week at the end of June, or beginning of July 2016, avoiding school holidays,
when air fares may be higher.

Cost is £450, which includes all meals and transport within Bulgaria. The only extras are return flights
to Sofia (perhaps £200?) and drinks there, which are very cheap.

More details are on the web site, either google Pirin Adventures, or
go to http://www.pirinadventures.co.uk/index.php

Please email me if you are interested, lynnoxlade@hotmail.co.uk, (but we are away from
Saturday 22 Aug until 4 Sept, so might not respond until then, depending on our access
to the internet.)

Quiz Afternoon

General 2014Posted by lynn Sat, January 17, 2015 18:42:59
Geoff Woohouse has kindly offered to organise a quiz for us intelligent ramblers. It will be on Saturday 7th March, 2.00- 4.30 at Red Deer Public House. There is a room upstairs which they let groups use free of charge. Dave Jeffries has used it and he said it might be suitable for us. Malcolm and I went to have a look last night. The pub is on Pitt Street which is behind West Street and is a short distance passed WestSt,Tram stop. Turn up Mappin St and first left onto Pitt Street. The pub is on the right. There were well over 50 in the room last night but it was very crowded. I think 40 would be ideal.
We can't take our own food and drink but we can buy alcohol, tea and coffee, snacks etc at the bar downstairs if we want to.
Also there will be a collecting tin in the room for Weston Park Hospital.
Hope to see you there

Bus passengers needed

Walks 2014Posted by lynn Fri, August 29, 2014 21:47:03
Bus passengers needed as well as car drivers for Sunday's Car Ramble. It is a lovely walk and if it is successful it will hopefully encourage others to put a car ramble in for next year, so that we can go to interesting places like Marsden, Bleaklow, Holmfirth, Hartington, Monyash, Roachers etc.
Hope to see you this Sunday at Millenium Gardens, Oughtibridge 9.20 ish,

Substitute tram bus, Tues 22

Walks 2014Posted by lynn Mon, July 14, 2014 14:03:04
Hi,
Traveline have just confirmed that on 22nd July there will still be replacement buses for trams running to Middlewood. The nearest stop to the Cathedral tram stop is Angel Street (outside Argos). I will be waiting there and will aim to catch the replacement bus at 9.41.(no earlier). The bus takes about 5 mins longer to get to Middlewood, therefore we will be at Ewden Valley bottom( water treatment stop later than 10.13,
Hope to see you there
