Walks 2015Posted by Judy Tue, December 29, 2015 12:08:25
You should have got an email by now changing the bus time for tomorrow's walk - I'd not used the Saturday timetable which is running this week.
While changing it I realised I had the name of the road wrong for the start of the walk so changed that too. We are, in fact, starting from where the grid reference says which is the top of Brooklands Avenue! This is the road that carries straight on past the shops at Fulwood village, where the 120 would turn right. I'll be waiting at the top of the hill.
Hopefully someone will read this and make sure people don't get off at the top of Brookhouse Hill which is up by the church before it drops into Fulwood village!!

The route for the coming Sunday's walk (20th) is very wet in places, and some spots are quite deep. Walkers will need to take care. Christine Whittaker

Just a couple of points about the walk.
You can get tickets half price with a Bus Pass.
Get a standard day return to Darton not an off-peak. Northern won't
allow an off-peak ticket on our return journey which is in their peak
I think it is easiest to get these tickets from the counter. Northern
say they won't take the money on the train and I don't know if the
machines can give the travel pass discount.
We will be getting the 16:16 train back so light will be fading. The
last mile is along the roadside so that will not be a problem. However
if you have a torch bring it. We go through some woodland mid afternoon
which might be a bit dark if it is overcast so it might be useful.
Poppies in the Park
1006 - Leeds train to Darton, SE311103. Walk starts 1038 - Dearne Way,
Yorkshire Sculpture Park (with time to see the Wave Poppies), Long Side,
High Hoyland, Kexbrough, Darton.
10 miles circular - intermediate. No Dogs.

We have two walks going to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to see the Wave poppies. Both Barrie & Cynthia and I independently thought it would be a good idea for a winter walk. When we spotted the duplication we decided that since one walk is on a Tuesday and the other on Wednesday it was still worth going ahead with both walks. I always enjoy visiting the YSP and if anyone has not been there I can recommend it.
We hope you can get on one of the walks. Apologies to anyone who would have walked both days.
Barrie, Cynthia & Dave

If I don't come into the Interchange on Sunday to catch the 9.33 no. 65 bus which we are using to get to Grindleford, then I shall be getting on the bus at the Ecclesall Road/Banner Cross stop at 9.43 approx and hope that some of you will be able to come, although I know that several of you are away or have other commitments.
The busses back from Hathersage are at either 16.19 or 17.19.
Don't forget to put clocks back on Saturday night. Deena
